Wes Carter is a bad boy hero you won't be able to resist.

And
A Pound of Flesh is a love story you won't want to stop talking about.

Fans of Samantha Young, Jodi Ellen Malpas, Jamie McGuire, Katy Evans will find this powerful love story utterly addictive and unforgettable.

Their love is forbidden. But won't be denied... Can true love heal the deepest scars?

For Kat Lane, teaching inmates at a New York prison is her way of upholding the legacy of her beloved father, murdered fifteen years ago. But when new student Wes Carter walks into her classroom, she's shaken by the strength of her attraction to him. Carter is as handsome as he is dangerous, as mysterious as he is quick-witted - and he ensures people keep their distance. Yet vibrant Kat bypasses his defences and challenges him to reveal the real man behind the intimidating reputation. As their emotional barriers crumble, their inescapable but forbidden feelings cannot be ignored. But will Kat's discovery of Carter's role on the night her father died force them apart...or bind their hearts for ever?

A Pound of Flesh is a tale of loyalty, redemption and all-consuming love against the odds, introducing an irresistible bad boy hero...

Cover:  I actually really like this cover.  So glad that it doesn't have a Sylvia Day or E.L. James type cover so that it's not type cast as being 'that type of book'.  Also really fond of the U.S cover for this.  Both are quite 'strong' and compelling covers.

I'm in love.
With this book and with Wes Carter.
I cannot put across just how much I enjoyed reading this book.
By the synopsis I thought it would be a 'me' book- opposites attract- breath taking romance.
But I thought it sounded a lot like Hard Time by Cara McKenna which I read last year, and didn't overly enjoy.
So when I picked this one up, I had hopes for it, but it surpassed them all.
These characters were so well fleshed out.  So cookie cutters here.
Kat wants to fulfill a promise to her father, so teaches at a prison as a way to give back.  She struggles with guilt after the death of her father and misses him terribly.  Her job causes tension between herself and her mother.
Carter is an inmate at the prison.  Seemingly a common criminal, there's more to him than there appears- especially as to how he ended up in prison in the first place.
And while Kat starts to teach Carter, there may be some history between them that neither expected.
I loved that we got both Kat and Carter's points of view in alternating chapters.  I love it when books have this, as it gives you a much more well rounded view of both characters thoughts and feelings.
Not only the attraction and chemistry between Kat and Carter, but the connection- was amazing.  I felt the pull between them.  It was amazing to read.
The cover and the title may be slightly misleading.  While there are definitely erotic moments, that is not the focus of the book at all.  There's a lot more storytelling and depth to it.
I cannot recommend this book enough to anyone and everyone- but particularly fellow romance fans.
But back off Wes Carter- he's mine.

5/5 stars.
I look forward to the next book in this series.

Read from June 26 to July 01, 2015
